The Vessel

Honouring what has held us

Are you mistaking the places where you have been hurt for evidence that something in you is broken?

You have an extraordinary capacity for repair. You have survived being changed by what you have lived through, found ways to mend, adapt and rebuild, and kept making a life through all of it.

The Energy

Life leaves its marks on the vessels through which we move. Our bodies, identities, relationships, beliefs and ways of being can all be cracked, changed and repaired by what we have lived through.

But the cracks are in the vessel, not in the life-force it carries.

The Vessel invites us to honour the places where we have had to mend, rebuild or reshape ourselves without turning those experiences into evidence that something essential within us has been damaged.

Like the Japanese art of kintsugi, repair does not have to hide what happened. The places where the vessel has been broken and remade can become visible parts of its beauty and value.

We are not precious because we remained untouched. We are precious because the life within us continues to find form.

The Invitation

When we have been hurt, we can become focused on returning ourselves to who we were before. We may try to hide the cracks, repair ourselves perfectly, or wish that certain experiences had never changed us.

The Vessel offers another possibility. Healing does not have to mean returning to an untouched version of ourselves.

We can honour what happened, repair what needs care, and allow the ways we have changed to become part of who we are now.

The life-force within us does not need a perfect vessel in order to keep creating, loving and becoming.

A Way Through

Notice where you are treating something that has been hurt, changed or repaired as evidence that you are somehow less whole.

Instead of asking how to erase the crack, ask what it needs now: care, repair, support, rest, strengthening, or simply acknowledgement.

What changes when you recognise that the vessel has been marked, but the life within it is still whole?
