Listening for belonging
Are you mistaking the loneliness of becoming for evidence that you don't belong?
You have developed an incredible capacity for quieting the voices of other people in order to hear and honour yourself more deeply. You have learned to recognise your own voice even when it leads you somewhere others may not follow.
The Energy
Change can carry us away from people and places where we once felt at home. As we become something new, there can be a lonely stretch where we no longer quite belong where we were, but haven't yet found where we are going.
Susurrus invites us to listen for the quiet sounds of others moving in the currents we are entering.
Belonging does not always arrive as a ready-made community. Sometimes it begins as a faint sense of recognition: another voice, another person, another place where something in us quietly says, there you are.
The Invitation
When we feel alone, it can be tempting to return to familiar forms of belonging, even when they no longer fit who we are becoming.
Susurrus asks us to listen differently. Who else is asking similar questions, exploring similar possibilities, or moving towards something that feels alive to us?
We don't need to find people exactly like ourselves. We are listening for the quieter recognition of different lives beginning to move in a shared current.
A Way Through
Pay attention to the small moments of resonance around you: a conversation, an invitation, a community, a shared interest, or someone whose words make you feel a little less alone.
Where can you hear the faint sounds of belonging beginning to gather around who you are becoming?
