Compost

Releasing the old story

Are you still holding everybody, including yourself, captive in a story you no longer want to live in?

You have an incredible capacity to learn from what you have lived through. You have gathered insight, understanding and hard-won wisdom from experiences you would never have chosen. None of that learning has to be lost.

The Energy

Sometimes we outgrow a relationship or way of being, but keep everyone trapped in the story of what happened.

We may have changed, but still need someone else to remain the person they were. Or we may keep ourselves tied to who we were when the story happened.

When we keep defining ourselves and each other through an old story, we keep that way of relating alive.

Compost invites us to let the old form break down, releasing everyone from the roles they played within it.

Compost releases what has finished from its old form so that the energy it held can transform into what we are living now.

The Invitation

Releasing a story does not mean denying what happened, excusing harm, or abandoning accountability. What we have lived becomes part of the soil. It does not have to remain the permanent boundary of what any of us may become.

We can keep the learning without keeping everyone assigned to the same roles. We can honour what changed us without requiring the old relationship to remain alive forever.

What has finished does not have to be erased. It can become material for what comes next.

A Way Through

Notice where an old story still requires you or someone else to remain a particular kind of person.

Ask what you genuinely need to carry forward: the learning, the boundary, the grief, the clarity. Then consider what can be released from the obligation to remain itself.

Who might you become if nobody had to stay trapped in the old story?
